Pinkly Perfect’s Guide to Embracing Pantone’s Color of the Year

Founder/CEO at Pinkly Perfect, Inc.

Pink may be our all-time favorite but this year, Ultra Violet’s the color to embrace! In January, Pantone named 18-3838 the color of the year, meaning pretty soon it’ll pop up everywhere including fashion prints, fitness gear, beauty products, kitchen appliances, and even advertising campaigns.

Instead of just sitting back and watching the sea of purple inundate our most visited online retailers, get a head start on this electric hue by incorporating it into your visual routine now! Here are some of our recs:

Beauty:

We love the idea of easing into this color and think a vibrant manicure is the perfect place to start. butterLONDON offers an entire collection inspired by Ultra Violet, including a line of purple nailpolish, lipgloss, and even eye liner!

Office Accessories:

A bright Moleskine notebook is a classic favorite with a trendy twist and we can’t resist a pop of purple to complement our mostly pink office accessories. Fellow #boss babes may want to stock up on a couple versions to have on deck after filling this one up with to-do lists and on-the-go sketching!

Fitness Gear:

ultra.violet.sports.bra

Colorful leggings may seem a bit daring but we’re all about a fluorescent sports bra to peek through our mostly black athletic ensemble. Pick up this one from Lorna Jane and wear under a mesh top for the full effect!

Clothing:

Despite this week’s unexpected 75 degree day, we’re still aiming to get in as many cozy winter weekends as possible. If you need a break from curling up with your Avalon Sweatshirt, shop this oversized cable knit in bright purple!

Kitchen Necessities:

If you daydream about being the next Spring Baking Champion, get motivated to test your culinary creativity with these silicone kitchen tools! This 9-piece set includes everything from a whisk to a set of tongs in various colors of the rainbow, including our new favorite shade of purple.

Girl Power at the Olympics

girl.power.at.the.winter.olympics

Written by: Sarah Felbin

Have you been keeping up with the winter Olympics? This year’s Games are taking place in PyeongChang, South Korea, and so far we’ve seen amazing things from Team USA – especially from the girls! Below, we take a look at four female athletes who have already shown the world that sports aren’t just for boys anymore:

Mirai Nagasu, Figure Skater

Mirai.Nagasu.Olympic.Girl.PowerImage from Fansided.

Mirai made headlines earlier this month when she became the first American woman ever to land a triple axel in the Olympics. (Besides her, only two other Olympic athletes have ever successfully completed the same jump.) Watch Mirai’s stunning performance here or learn more about her by visiting her website here.

Favorite Color: Blue

Favorite TV Show: The Big Bang Theory

#goals: “My goal is to accept any challenge that life throws me and to become a better person from each experience. Sounds super cheesy, but it’s my honest opinion. I’m going to make mistakes and have success; I hope that under all circumstances, I can come away from everything as a role model and an inspiration.”

Chloe Kim, Snowboarder

Chole.Kim.Olympics.Girl.PowerPhoto from ABCNews

Chloe, at 17, has been turning heads since she arrived at the Olympics earlier this winter. However, after winning the women’s halfpipe gold, she really caught everyone’s attention. She was also the first woman to land consecutive 1080s in the halfpipe at the Olympics. Watch Chloe’s record-breaking run here or follow her on Twitter here!

Lindsey Vonn, Skier

Lindsey.Vonn.Olympics.Girl.PowerPhoto from CNN

You’ve probably heard of Lindsey Vonn before – if not at this Olympics, then during one of her other three (2002, 2006, and 2010!). Among her many, many achievements, Lindsey holds the American record for most world cup victories and is ranked second in the world. You can buy her book, Strong is the New Beautiful, here, or follow her on Twitter or Instagram!

Our Fave Three Things About Lindsey:

  1. Her ideal day off is our ideal day off. “I’d sit on my couch with a large container of froyo with my dogs, and I would watch Law and Order marathons all day long in my pajamas—a onesie.”
  2. Her dogs have an Instagram! Follow them @vonndogs.
  3. Her Under Armour collection. Adorable, practical, and so chic!

Becca Hamilton, Curler

Becca.Hamilton.OlympicsPhoto from The Denver Post

Becca, who was named USA Curling’s Female Athlete of the Year in 2017, is one half of the U.S. curling team. The other half? Her brother, Matt! The pair are slowly but surely working their way through all of the curling challenges PyeongChang has to offer, and we can’t wait to watch them the rest of the way! You can find Becca on Twitter and Instagram – and welcome to the #HamFam!

Pinkly Perfect’s Guide to a Cozy Night In This Valentine’s Day

valentines.day.night.in

Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching. While we love the idea of cozying up with our crush, we also know the importance of valuing all the love in our lives. Which is why you may be inclined to practice self-love or a cozy night in with your girlfriends instead of the more typical date night.

Below are products that will certainly add to a night of relaxing and indulging this February 14th.

Philosophy Fresh Cream Body Lotion:

philosophy.fresh.cream

The winter months can be unkind to our skin. Philosophy Fresh Cream body lotion brings the spa to you with this creamy lotion that smells like a batch of freshly made cream. Lather up as you get ready to settle in for a night of relaxing.

Jars by Dani is one of our favorites because it is 1. Delicious, 2. Convenient, and 3. Oh so pretty! We especially love the Valentine’s Day theme jars and think picking up a pack of 6 would be perfect for a girls’ night in.

Wine:

be.flirty.wine

Call us millennials but we’re all about inexpensive wine with clever packaging. We particularly love this bottle of Be.Flirty Moscato since it’s so on Valentine brand.

Minnie Rose Slippers:

minnie.rose.slippers

How can you get cozy without an appropriate wardrobe? Minnie Rose slippers are the perfect treat yourself gift to stay comfy and cute as you cuddle up on the couch with your besties.

TV Marathon:

Rather than watch Bravo reruns, opt for a new series to binge watch that’s both addicting and completely captivating. We recommend The Crown, Riverdale, Gilmore Girls, or Black Mirror.

However you decide to celebrate, we hope you have a lovely Valentine’s Day!

The Winter Boots You’ve “Bean” Looking For!

pinkly.perfect.style.your.winter.boots

Written by: Sarah Felbin

Winter weather often means unearthing drab coats, thick scarves, and your trusty snow boots that have lived in your closet since middle school. It’s not often that a piece of winter wear is both functional and chic – until now! We’re referring, of course, to Bean Boots, the all-weather footwear taking the winter season by storm.

If you already own a pair, you know that Bean Boots are perfect for stomping around in all kinds of rain, snow, sleet, or hail. (If you don’t, now you do!) But besides that, they’re also cuter than your average hiking boot, and come in a variety of different shapes, sizes, and colors. Below, see some of our favorite ways to wear them!

stripes.and.bean.boots

Cozy neutrals and classic stripes make for the perfect winter look! Add a scarf to stay stylish in even the coldest temperatures, like this (pink!) one from ASOS.

pink.rain.coat.bean.boots

Bean Boots look extra preppy when paired with an upgraded coat – check out this lookalike from H&M here or try a new color like green or bright yellow!

plaid.bean.boots.style

Pink plaid and Bean Boots go together like PB&J, and fun socks not only keep your feet warm but also make a fashion statement! A gingham shirt is another great option, or try this large check instead – and don’t forget the perfect pair of pink socks!

oversized.bean.boots

Get comfy with an oversized pink sweatshirt, leggings, and a knit hat. We love this blush pullover from ASOS or this faux fur one from Go Jane!

Newport Cosmetic Bag, You’re Perfect

Topanga

Cory and Topanga’s relationship was #goals for any Boy Meets World fan. While they had their ups and downs like any high school sweethearts, we know Cory would have loved to gift his girl a Newport Cosmetic Bag in pink glitter “You’re Perfect.”

We’re all about making small changes that can add up to a happier, healthier new year. But we’re also all about cute, inexpensive accessories that can take something plain and make it pretty. Combine the two? Resolutions never looked so good! Instead of cutting your Starbucks runs down or only checking Insta twice a day, why not make some you’ll actually want to keep – with these adorable stickers to remind you of your goals, 2018 is sure to be your best year yet!

Each sticker featured below can be found on redbubble.com, a site where independent artists can turn their work into all kinds of products. We’re currently loving the sticker trend, but be sure to check out similar items in each artist’s shop!

4) Crush your next semester

DNASticker

Who said science is just for boys? In 2018, we’re proving those nay-sayers wrong. And no matter what you study, show off your smart girl pride with a sticker that’s as cute as it is sensible.

5) Make time for more “me time”

IceCreamConeSticker

In 2018, we’re treating ourselves! Whether it’s an extra cupcake, a unicorn frappucino, or a Netflix binge-watching marathon, we’re letting ourselves indulge in our favorite things, no matter how #extra some people say we are. (They just don’t understand – it takes work to be this fabulous!)

Nothing Basic About Basic Invite | Custom Bridal Invitations

custom.bridal.shower.invites

Even though it may seem like an overload of Christmas and New Year’s themed everything lately, for those of you lucky enough to be on bridesmaid duty come Spring & Summer 2018, you’re probably more overwhelmed with the planning of showers, bachelorettes, luncheons, and of course, weddings!

Between NYE and next September, I’ll be going to 8 weddings across Iowa, New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Texas, and Mexico. I’m a bridesmaid in two, and another is my sister’s wedding so I will be very, very busy to say the least. Luckily all with things right up my alley like planning parties, picking out pretty flowers, dress shopping, dancing like crazy, and celebrating with (lots of) champagne and cake.

For the newly engaged couples, it’s not just the wedding they’re planning. The love birds will be sending out engagement announcements, save the dates, wedding invitations, bridal shower invitations, and bachelor & bachelorette party invites.

But sending out creative and completely customizable invites doesn’t need to be hard! In fact, with Basic Invite it is SO easy and actually really fun, especially if you’re the creative type.

One of the things I dislike the most about using online services for invitations is that you never get to see the actual hard copy before ordering production. But with Basic Invite, you can actually receive a sample (including the envelope—hint: they have over 40 different color options) to review prior to placing an order.

Another plus is that the invites are completely customizable with over 180 color combinations to choose from! Got a couple hours to spare this weekend? Play (yes, it really feels like you’re playing) around with their templates and custom features. You’ll be surprised with how long you’re on there for.

I was lucky enough to get some samples to review in person and I am so excited to share them with you. I obviously went with all things pink and/or beachy but the options are endless for whatever your style is. One thing to applaud is how exact the color looks on the screen compared to the actual sample. Take a peek at the ones I got below!

Engagement Announcements:

Pink.Egagement.Party.Invite

I know, I know….isn’t Facebook the official announcement? Nope! Make it even more official with an announcement in the mail. I love the metallics in this card and if I was ordering for production, I would definitely take advantage of their foil option to make it pop even more!

Save the Dates:

custom.save.the.dates

FACT: I’ve gotten so many texts recently asking for my address! One feature I love is that Basic Invite offers an address capturing service, which is way more convenient! You can simply share a link on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc and request addresses for your entire guest list and select it once you send out all the other invitations.

Bridal Shower Invitations:

custom.wedding.invitations

custom.bridal.shower.invite

Bridal shower invites tend to be classy, subtle, and pretty but I love the more fun options. And we’re always up for more champagne. 🙂

Bachelorette Party Invitations:

custom.bachelorette.invites

Why are these always emails? Change the game with Basic Invite’s Bachelorette Party invitations. I L-O-V-E the ones I picked out. Perfectly pink and nautical!

Wedding Invitations:

There were so many elegant invitations to choose from and I honestly couldn’t even pick out a sample because I loved them all. In addition to the invite, they even offer wedding guest book ideas, which would be a perfect gift idea too.

We’re Dreaming of a White (Sand) Christmas | Beachy Ornaments You Need RN

beachy.christmas.ornaments

One of my favorite things about going home for the holidays is decorating our Christmas tree. Like most parents, mine saved all of our handmade creations from when we were kids, my favorite being a cutout gingerbread man made purely of brown construction paper, crayons, and a green pipe cleaner.

Our tree may not be “beautiful” in a photographed for Town & Country way, but it reminds us of the simplicity and excitement of our youth as well as our different (and very short) musical instrument and sport phases.

While my ornaments are mostly old arts & craft projects and Madeline-themed, I’ve recently started collecting more summer inspired knick-knacks to embrace my number #1 wish on every Christmas list—my own beach obsessed brand. Below are some I’m currently eyeing that I know you will love too!

Pink Seashell JOY

$40 from The Mermaids Box on Etsy

pink.seashell.ornament
Photo from Etsy

This beautiful ornament from Etsy combines a quintessential Christmas sentiment with vintage and found seashells in our favorite shades of pink. We love it for our tree this year or just to hang in our office for a pink pick-me-up this holiday season!

Feathered Flamingo Ornament

$20 at Anthropologie

flamingo.pink.ornament
Photo from Anthropologie

For us to truly be a flamingo in a flock of pigeons this Christmas season, we’re loving the idea of trading in our reindeer and snowmen for a sparkly and feathered pink flamingo ornament. This one from Anthropologie will surely stand out from the crowd.

Sunny Life Pineapple Ornament

$7 at Shopbop

pineapple.ornament
Photo from Shopbop

A pineapple a day keeps the scrooge away! That’s the saying, right? The pineapple is largely used in the South to convey hospitality, warmth, and friendship, which is why we think a pineapple ornament is perfect for welcoming family and friends in for some hot chocolate and holiday cheer this winter. At only $7, we especially love this Sunny Life one.

Blowfish Ornament

$7.50 at Pottery Barn

blowfish.ornament
Photo from Pottery Barn

If the puffer fish in Finding Nemo was your favorite character, you’ll love this beautiful pink glass blowfish ornament from Pottery Barn. While you’re online shopping, check out their other sea-inspired decorations, including angel fish, seashells, and lifesavers.
