If Pinkly Perfect Could Name the Conversation Candy Hearts

valentine.candy.hearts

In our opinion, the most iconic Valentine’s Day candies are the conversational hearts. Every February, we cannot resist the pastel Necco Sweethearts as both festive decorations and the sweetest little treats!

Below, we listed what our conversation hearts would say if it were up to Pinkly Perfect!

BEACH BABE

PPCandyHeartsBeachBabe

Because Pinkly Perfect girls are beach babes, regardless of the season.

VACAY

PPVACAYCANDYHEART

All a Valentine has to do is take us on a tropical vacay, and we’re hooked.

#GOALS

PPCANDYHEARTGOALS

We stay motivated regardless of our current relationship status. #Goals

XOXO, BOSS

PPXOXOBOSS

Pinkly Perfect girls are boss babes just as much as they’re beach babes!

UR PERFECT

PPYOURPERFECT

One of our most classic PP saying, “You’re Perfect” is the ultimate love note.

GIRL POWER

PPGIRLPOWERCANDYHEART

The best thing about PP girls is that Valentine’s Day is just about their girls as it is their men!

Easy Pink Desserts for Halloween

easy.pink.halloween.treats

Halloween’s not just about dressing in costume and trading fun-sized Milky Ways with your besties. If you’re wiped from going out over Halloweekend and are aiming for a spooky night in instead of trick-or-treating, check out these easy, pink recipes you can make at home to both delight and fright your guests of “horror.” 😉

Zombie Brain Cupcakes:

Brain cupcakes are SO easy! Simply make your favorite cupcake (any flavor will work perfectly), whip up a pink frosting and apply in a “brain” pattern on top. You’ll need an icing set like this one from Bed Bath & Beyond. Use the picture above from Shutterstock for inspiration.

“Pink Eye” Martinis:

Got an over-21 crowd coming over for a scary movie marathon? If so, pour some “pink eye” martinis. They’re your standard martini recipe (vodka and dry vermouth) but the glass is rimmed in pink sugar. Use a melon baller to scoop out watermelon balls and toss in glass. If you really want to scare your friends, add a fake spider hanging from the rim as well!

Day of the Dead Skull Sugar Cookies:

day.of.the.dead.cookies
Skull cookie photo from Pinterest.

If Day of the Dead is more your speed, make some pink skull cookies to munch on in between answering the doorbell to trick-or-treaters. Use any sugar cookie recipe you love, a skull cookie cutter, and different color icings or edible markers to pink-ify a perfect skull. If you’re having friends over for a more interactive occasion, have them each decorate their own and add in various sprinkles, edible glitter, and candy corn.

Monster Rice Krispie Treats:

Follow this recipe from One Little Project for the cutest (and most delicious) monster inspired rice krispie treats! Don’t forget the pink candy melts and edible eyes to make these pinkly perfect. 🙂

Best Food Spots in Avalon, NJ

best.food.spots.avalon.new.jersey

Written by: Lauren Carroll

Lauren.Carroll.Love.Philly.Food

Shore season may be over, but that doesn’t mean you can’t prepare for next year! I’m Lauren and I run the food Instagram @love_phillyfood. I started my account about three years ago and post food from wherever I am, which is mostly Philadelphia, its suburbs and Avalon, NJ. I have grown up going to Avalon and it’s one of my absolute favorite places. I am here to share 5 of my favorite places to eat while down the shore.

Sundae Best: You can’t beat homemade ice cream, especially when there are TONS of flavors to choose from. Sundae best offers the best of the best. When I’m down the shore I eat ice cream so much, it’s probably not normal. My favorite flavors here are: mint chocolate chip, cookie dough, chocolate malt crunch yogurt, chocolate peanut butter and french silk (which I just discovered this year, so good! It’s a mocha mousse ice cream with chocolate chips—yum!) Ice cream always looks more photogenic in a cone, so I typically order it in one, take the pics, and then get a cup on the side so it doesn’t melt!

Fishin’ Pier Grille: The Fishin’ Pier is a staple in Avalon. I have been going here my entire life. We were known as the bagel kids for years because my cousins and I would sit on their boardwalk bench and each order a bagel and lemonade. The restaurant is run by the nicest family and they have the BEST food. I either order the chocolate chip pancakes or chocolate chip french toast (do you see a theme that I love chocolate?) and they are SO good. They have specials each summer that keep up with the trends (hint: avocado toast) and always have fresh and delicious toppings for their pancakes and french toast. Pictured are the chocolate chip pancakes with my Pinkly Perfect Keychain in the background 🙂

29th Street Deli and Grill: Attached to Avalon Supermarket, the 29th Street Deli and Grill has the best breakfast sandwiches and lunch options! My mom and I always split a bacon, egg and cheese on a (sandwich-sized) english muffin. Pro tip: call ahead so you can just pick it up and not have to wait! I also highly recommend the Mediterranean Flattite for lunch, which is hummus, roasted red peppers, feta, and avocado on a grilled flatbread. I always try to show off my Pinkly Perfect bracelet while getting the perfect food shot of stacks of sandwiches. They always look so appetizing and do so well on Instagram.

Whitebrier: If you are looking for a delicious dinner, I love the Whitebrier. With endless options from sushi to burgers, everyone can find something they enjoy. I typically order sushi, but couldn’t resist getting the truffle parm fries after seeing them walk by my table countless times.

pinkly.perfect.french.fies.shore

Kohler’s Bakery: If you are looking for the best donuts or sticky buns on the island, this is the place. Luckily my house is on the same street, so it’s super convenient to get to. The lines are always massive, but it’s worth it and they have their process down! My favorite thing to get is the chocolate cruller. I like asking for my treats in a box, as opposed to a bag, because it’s easier to get the perfect shot with everything at once.

Easy Pink Apple Sangria Recipe Perfect for Fall

easy.recipe.sangria

Written by: Meghan Reggi

Pie-baking, sweater-wearing, blanket-snuggling, steamy mug-sipping, pumpkin picking.  Of the many fall activities that make this season the coziest, consuming anything with apples in it is certainly at the top of our list.  Be it in pie, cake, tart, cider, or donuts, APPLE is undoubtedly our favorite fruit flavor of the season!

That’s why we developed our own Pinkly Perfect version of Apple Sangria to enjoy on a crisp fall day with friends.  If, like us, you look forward all year to a crisp October day spent visiting an orchard, surrounded by vibrant foliage and fellow sweater-clad folks carrying apple-grabbing poles and barrels to overfill with fresh apples until they’re too heavy to carry, we have JUST the treat for you to enjoy using your seasonal bounty.

easy.apple.recipe
Lovely farmer’s market apples featured in this easy pink apple sangria recipe! Photo from Meghan Reggi.

Go ahead and soak in the warm sun and cool air, bounce around on a hayride, laugh with your gals as you compete in a cider donut-eating contest, and then retire to your cozy living room with our delicious Pink Sangria and a fun game!  Whipping up this cocktail is easy as pie (scratch that, it’s MUCH easier than pie), and can be made as a single serving or in a pitcher for a group (multiply recipe by number of people.)  While hard cider and fresh apple juice ground this sangria with a tart, crisp taste of Autumn, the infusion of raspberry adds a delicious sweetness that makes this drink unique.  And of course, the resulting pink color keeps the Pinkly Perfect girl in us smiling.

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup raspberry apple juice (we used Red Jacket brand, available at Whole Foods; if unable to find raspberry, can substitute cranberry apple juice)
  • 2/3 cup Hard Cider
  • 1 oz vodka, regular or apple flavor
  • Apple slices for garnish

Directions

  1.     Combine cold juice and cider together with vodka in a large glass or pitcher.
  2.     Stir well and pour into a new glass, over a bunch of fresh apple slices.
  3.     Cheers, sip, enjoy, repeat!

Pumpkin Ice Cream at the Jersey Shore

all.the.places.you.can.get.pumpkin.ice.cream.at.the.shore

Written by: Meghan Reggi

It’s no secret that pumpkin-flavored treats are highly coveted this time of year, and their annual emergence is something we unabashedly look forward to.  The anticipation that builds all year for a flavor of beverages, snacks, and desserts that is only available for a small window of time is exciting!

While Starbucks advertises their beloved PSL with lots of flair and Trader Joe’s has an entire section of their store dedicated to pumpkin-flavored goodies (which are quite delicious!), you may not realize that some of your favorite Jersey Shore ice cream parlors bring this flavor to their menus once the summer has ended!  We’ve rounded up all the best spots to score pumpkin ice cream the next time you’ll be spending a fall day enjoying the shore this month.  Cozying up in your favorite Pinkly Perfect sweatshirt and enjoying this seasonal treat with a great book on the beach sounds like an ideal way to spend a Saturday afternoon to us.

A Fresh (And Delicious) Start to Fall with JuiceBrothers

healthy.juice.cleanse.juicebrothers

If summer were a food, it’d be one of those over the top pink milkshakes with an ice cream sundae on top, cotton candy swirl, and covered in funnel cake, tossed down with an iced coffee. And if you truly embraced all the quintessential summer sweets while visiting your favorite boardwalks this summer, your body may be in need of a slight reset before hitting the ground running this fall.

Something we like to do at Pinkly Perfect is give our stomachs a nice refresher course in nutritious fruits and vegetables to rid ourselves of added sugar cravings that we so excitedly indulged in from Memorial Day until Labor Day.

While juice cleanses are a dime a dozen in today’s world, one we are so excited to tell you about is JuiceBrothers, a company made up of four friends who in 2013 decided to fill the void of cold-pressed juice options in Holland who has now expanded to New York City.

JuiceBrothers sent us their Deep Cleanse, perfect for someone new to juicing (me!) and it was both effective and tasty. Overall, every juice we tried was delicious and energizing but the Vanilla Sky (tasted like a milkshake!), Green Routine, and Dutch Spice were my favorites. While we only tried their cold-pressed juices, we are majorly eyeing their Coconut Dream Smoothie (Coconut meat, coconut water, honey, vanilla) and Acai Choco Protein Bowl (Acai, banana, pear, cacao, almond butter, vegan protein powder topped with granola, banana, cacao nibs, and coconut flakes).

JuiceBrothers.DutchSpice.PinklyPerfect
Dutch Spice–one of our favorites from JuiceBrothers!

What makes JuiceBrothers unique to other juices out there is that they are cold pressed and don’t include fiber, which can upset a digestive system if it’s not used to it. All fruits and vegetables are organic and their juices are proven to boost immunity and promote overall well being. Just one day of juicing and we feel so alert and clear-headed!

Getting ready for a typical fall day of football watching and beer? Swap out your drink of choice for Dragon’s Breath, made of pear, apple, carrot, grapefruit, beetroot, lemon, ginger, and perfectly resembling an autumn sangria, except all organic, raw, vegan, dairy-free, soy-free, gluten-free, and guilt-free! It’ll keep you energized for all touchdown high-fiving and won’t leave you feeling groggy the next day.

JuiceBrothers.DragonsBreath.PinklyPerfect
Dragon’s Breath–a refreshing afternoon pick-me-up!

While JuiceBrothers definitely jump-started our new fall self-care routine, we also recommend the following:

  • Investing in a lotion that will help protect the skin once temperatures drop
  • Buying your new favorite cozy fall ensemble (hello, oversized sweater and leggings!)
  • Drinking a night-time cup of decaf chai with a dollop of honey
  • Getting out and enjoying the beautiful fall scenery!

What’s better than fresh, crisp air, changing leaves, and a refreshing and revitalizing cold-pressed juice?! Nothing!

Pink Sweet Treats to Beat the Heat

easy.pink.dessert.recipes

Written by: Sarah Felbin

Summer may be coming to a close, but long days, heat waves, and Labor Day party invitations (is September really only days away?!) are still in full swing. Thankfully, we’ve got you covered! These sweet, pink treats are perfect for parties, beach days, or an excuse to stay inside where it’s air conditioned. Oh, and there’s something for everyone – dairy-free, no-bake, vegan, and all delicious!

First up: The party planner’s guide to a perfect pink menu. If you’re looking to impress your guests, we highly recommend these no bake pink lemonade cheesecake parfaits (shown below). They look and taste like you’ve spent hours slaving in the kitchen, but really only take 10-15 minutes to put together.

If you like to prep ahead of time, popsicles are perfect! They’re easy to make and take a long time to freeze, which leaves you time to pick out your perfect party outfit in between. Vegan creamy coconut and blood orange pops (shown below) are gorgeous and so simple, while peach melba pops with thyme take a little more work, but are just as stunning.

Unfortunately, hot weather isn’t always the best popsicle weather. If you’re worried about the mess, opt for a refreshing drink instead – this raspberry lemon iced tea takes no time at all and is the perfect, summery shade of pink!

Nothing says summer like a smoothie, and a Jamba Juice smoothie? Even better! This Aloha Pineapple smoothie tastes just like the real deal, but only uses a few easy ingredients. You might even have them in your fridge already…

If you love to bake, but hate the high calorie count of some of your favorites, try these baked vanilla donuts! Much healthier than your usual donut, but just as yummy and fun to make! Craving cake instead? How about pink velvet? Or, if you’re more of a cookie person (we see you, though we don’t really understand you), these Lofthouse sugar cookie bars (shown below) are as beautiful as they are tasty! And, if you’ve got a few hours to burn, pink cinnamon rolls are the perfect way to treat yo’self after a long day.

And last, but not least… Unicorn hot chocolate! Because who can say no to whipped cream and sprinkles?!

Yes, that’s right: Unicorn hot chocolate. Originally created by Creme and Sugar cafe in Southern California, unicorn hot chocolate isn’t cold, but it’s just too awesome to leave out! It’s easy to make and fun to eat, and who doesn’t love whipped cream and sprinkles?

Spoon University has an easy, basic recipe here, but you can also find a dairy-free version that uses almond milk instead of regular milk here.

For extra inspiration, check out Love and Olive Oil’s version (shown at the top of this article)! And yes, that unicorn horn is edible – you can thank us later.

Easy Pink Peep Recipes

pink.peep.recipes.easter

Valentine’s Day may be Pinkly Perfect’s favorite non-summer holiday but Easter is a close second! We love everything from the pretty pastel colors to the delicious sweets to little gifts from the Easter bunny.

Last year I made s’mores with pink peeps (see picture below) and I was so inspired to see what other treats I could make with my favorite Easter indulgence.

PinkPeepSmore

I landed on Peep Chocolate Bars. I can’t keep secrets, especially when I’m excited, so here’s a picture of them cooling off from the oven. Yum!

PinkPeepChocolateBar

How pretty?! Would you believe me if I said they were as easy as they are cute? Because they are.

Simply buy chocolate cake mix (or whatever cake mix you prefer—I was and am always craving chocolate), eggs, oil, pink peeps (about twenty), and pastel M&Ms.

Make the chocolate cake mix according to directions and while they’re baking, chop up some peeps. Take the cake out of the oven with 5 minutes left to bake and sprinkle the peeps and pretty pink M&Ms over the top.

Take out of the oven when cook time is over and let cool before diving in!

What are some of your favorite variations of the classic Easter treats? Let us know in the comments section!

Pinkly Perfect Takes on Southern California

pinkly.perfect.fashion.packing

Last September, I had my dream trip booked. I was headed to Southern California for five days to bring Pinkly Perfect to the West Coast. In typical girl boss fashion, however, too much work, unforeseen shipping delays, and not enough help (my fault) put a halt on my much needed (for sales, inspiration, and relaxation) getaway.

Since deciding to launch a company, there have been so many things I’ve had to miss out on because of work. This was the first time where it spiraled into a “what am I doing with my life?” moment. And trust me, it was ugly.

This past weekend, I (finally!) got to make the trip a reality and it was the best three days of my life. Below I highlighted some of my favorite things about it:

Girlboss Rally:

In short, this was the most inspirational day of my life as a small business owner. Sophia Amoruso, founder and CEO of Girlboss, founder of Nasty Gal, and all around badass girl boss/my idol curated the conference with equally impressive speakers including Lilly Singh, Brit Morin, Michelle Lam, Tyler Haney, and so many more! Sophia started the day off with saying, “just because we’re doing it ourselves does not mean we’re doing it alone.” That sentence alone was enough to pull me out of my rut of feeling entirely alone all the time. (Tips for anyone starting a company: have someone on your team from the beginning—co-founder, investor, partner, advisory board, mentor…) I would talk more about it but then I’d be typing forever! 🙂

Did I mention pink is their signature color? 🙂

Exploring!

When I wasn’t at the Girlboss Rally, I was doing my favorite thing ever: exploring beach towns. On my list were Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, and Balboa Island. I’ll always be a NJ shore girl at heart (08202), but the combo of palm trees, year-round warmth, and the most beautiful blue/green ocean water are unbeatable. Here are some of my pics:

Balboa Island! Spotted our Newport Cosmetic Bag there too 🙂

Driving into Newport Beach, CA!

Food:

A little getaway isn’t complete until you treat yourself! Yes, I shopped (obviously) and spent an hour or two at the spa (duh), but the food treats were the best. Below is a pic of the most delicious and beautiful cookie from B.Candy I had during my trip. We also had dinner at Broadway (Top Chef runner-up Amar Santana’s restaurant)—best dinner of my life, and probably 15 iced coffees from local coffee shops.

Any Southern California readers out there? Let me know places I should hit on my next trip!

My New Favorite Cookie Recipe

confetti.cake.cookies

Did you see my blog post last year about my obsession with Jersey shore sprinkles from Sweetapolita?

If you missed it, you basically just need to know that discovering these perfect pastel sprinkles inspired by my absolute favorite place makes baking and indulging in sweets even more enjoyable!

While I am trying to eat healthy (check out these pretty recipes!), there’s no way I can deny myself of baking and celebrating some pretty exciting press with desserts in the company of my best friends.

I decided to try out this recipe for Confetti Cake Cookies from Sally’s Baking Addiction (I get so many delicious recipes from her blog) and it was so easy (literally 30 minutes start to finish) and the cookies came out perfectly!

jersey.shore.sprinkles
Jersey shore sprinkles!

The recipe doesn’t require any mixer so cleanup is a breeze and there’s SO many different ways you can customize it based on your mood. Switch out festive sprinkles for your favorite holiday or cake mixes for a different flavor. Over the weekend I bought pink velvet cake mix and heart sprinkles that I’ll be making for  Valentine’s Day in a couple weeks!

Yum!

What recipes are you into this winter? Let us know in the comments section so we can try them out!
