PP Survival Guide: Finals Edition

Summer break is so, so close – you’ve stocked up on sunscreen, the season’s cutest new swimsuits, and a new beach towel you’re so excited to break in – but first, finals week. The last week you have to get through until those fabulous summer plans can become reality. And while it’s nobody’s favorite time of year, finals week is the perfect time to grab a few pick-me-ups to keep you going until summer actually starts. See our favorites below:

PinklyPerfectNavySweatshirt1

Avalon Sweatshirt, Peace Love Wine, $48.00 at Pinkly Perfect

PP’s cozy Avalon sweatshirt is the perfect motivation to get you through your exams. It’s a list of everything you have to look forward to after finals week finally ends – and you can take it with you everywhere you go! Plus, it’s a perfect layer for those cold lecture halls (why do they blast the air conditioning when the weather’s actually nice outside?).

forest.app.pinklyperfect

Forest app, $1.99 at the App Store (also available at Google Play and as a Google Chrome extension)

Unfortunately, “studying” with your textbook open next to you while scrolling through your Insta feed doesn’t always work. That’s when it’s time for Forest, a productivity app that plants a tree in your phone whenever you set a timer. As long as the timer is running, the tree will grow – unless you leave the app. Forest will also track your study time and build you a virtual forest so you can see how much work you’ve done, which is pretty satisfying (and adorable!).

etsy.poster

Typography Poster, $17.00 – 42.00 on Etsy

If there’s one reason for us to make it through finals week, this poster sums it up perfectly. We’re all about #girlbosses and being the best “you” you can be, but it only works if you pass your finals! So, step one: get motivated. Step two: crush those finals. Step three: make it happen!

urban.outfitters.eye.mask

Miint by Petite Amie Skincare Audrey Eye Mask, $5.00 at Urban Outfitters

Finals week is stressful. Essays, exams, final projects… It’s enough to drive any girl crazy. And when you’ve been losing sleep studying or writing or practicing that presentation, sometimes a ten minute break can go a long way. This eye mask, printed with Audrey Hepburn’s classic cat-eye sunnies, is filled with hyaluronic acid and collagen to plump and provide anti-aging benefits. So take your ten minutes and do something just for you – your undereyes will thank you!

Throw Some Major Shade With These Pink Sunglasses

Written by: Sarah Felbin

Sarah.Felbin

70 degree weather is here! (Finally!) And while we’re still waiting for our pools and beaches to open on Memorial Day weekend, we can’t help but start to reassess our summer wardrobe – or how sad it’s become over the winter.

If you’re already opening your closet and complaining that your summer clothes are just so, well, blah, we totally get it! And while you can definitely fill some of those empty hangers by heading over to PP’s new summer collection, you can also start small. Sometimes, just changing an accessory or two can change your whole look: Enter sunglasses!

Sunglasses are one of our fave accessories because they’re cute, portable, and come in so many different shapes and sizes. Here, we’ve found some of our pink favorites to get you in the warm weather mood!

nordstrom.pink.sunglasses

Glance Eyewear 59mm Rimless Sunglasses, $14.00 at Nordstrom

These futuristic frames are simple, chic, and super easy to throw in your everyday bag. Light and breezy (just like your favorite beach day!), their bright pink color is sure to turn heads. They’re also slightly oversized, but not so much that you’ll feel like you’re hiding behind them – which is perfect, because the no-rims look will totally make you stand out.

go.jane.pink.sunglasses

Poolside Stay Cut-Out Round Sunglasses, $4.95 at GoJane

These shades give off a retro vibe without being overly funky – perfect for a poolside staycay with your besties! The cutout frames are just ever-so-slightly cat-eye, which is great for trying out the trend without going over the top. If you’re looking for something new, different, and slightly out of the ordinary, this is the pair for you! (And can you beat that price?!)

urban.outfitters.pink.sunglasses

Cher Square Cat-Eye Sunglasses, $9.99 at Urban Outfitters

These fuschia frames are ultra-modern and oh-so-sophisticated. The extra metal detail adds an unexpected chic touch, and the dark pink color kind of looks like your favorite summertime smoothie, doesn’t it? Either way, this oversized square shape and rimless style will surely become a staple in your springtime wardrobe!

asos.pink.sunglasses

ASOS Embellished Cat-Eye Sunglasses, $6.50 at ASOS

Turn heads in this pair of sunglasses with blue lens, pale pink frames, and pearls studded along the sides. They’re just oversized enough to make a statement, but the pearls are small enough that you won’t feel like they’re taking over your face. If you have the outfit, these frames will do the rest!

But what’s a killer pair of shades without a killer case to store them in? We’re a bit partial to our Pinkly Perfect Malibu Cosmetic Bag, which is big enough for your sunnies AND all your other “sunny day essentials.”

Pinkly Perfect New Summer 2018 Arrivals

The sun is officially out and temperatures are finally no jacket required as we get closer and closer to Memorial Day Weekend back at our favorite beach towns! While Pinkly Perfect’s given you many reasons to buy beach inspired fashion in the off-season, we are so happy to launch our first capsule of the Summer 2018 collection.

Below are our favorites:

Avalon Sweatshirt, Flamingo Besties:

PinklyPerfectGreySweatshirtFlamingo

Not only is our best selling sweatshirt back, but it’s better than ever with a pink pair of flamingos.

Forever Avalon, NJ Embroidery Patch:

PinklyPerfectForeverAvalonBadge

This may be our favorite new addition as it’s something completely new! Our “Forever Avalon, NJ” patches are 2” x 2” and can be sewn onto literally anything from your backpack to your beach bag to your beach towel to your denim jacket. We love this as a little “card stuffer” to include as a bonus birthday gift.

Bar Harbor Hat, Blue Denim:

PinklyPerfectBarHarborHat

We first introduced the Bar Harbor Hat last summer and quickly sold out! This year, we added a washed blue denim as more of a neutral color and we can’t help but be reminded of something MK & A would wear. 😉

Dennis Greeting Card, Bikini vs. Ice Cream Card:

PinklyPerfectBikiniCard

A “just because” card gets a summer makeover with the ultimate struggle that beach babes face every June-August. “My mind says bikini but my heart says three scoops and extra sprinkles.”

Beachy Emojis That Are Noticeably Missing

While our summer emoji game is pretty strong with frequent use of the mermaid, seashell, bikini, ice cream cone, and palm tree, there are some beachy icons that are very noticeably missing from our text convos and social media interactions.

Consider the below our petition to have summer last all year on our phones as well as through our Pinkly Perfect accessories:

Flamingo Emoji:

pink.flamingo.emoji

Whyyyyy is there not a flamingo emoji yet? There’s not even something similar we can sub for this pretty pink bird that is popping up everywhere from pool floats to beach towels to drinkware.

Hermit Crab Emoji (Preferably painted in rainbow colored flowers):

painted.hermit.crab.emoji

If you didn’t have a hermit crab when you were growing up, did you really vacation at the Jersey shore? Nothing would say nostalgia to your beach besties better than sending a vibrantly painted hermit crab emoji while trying to pass the time while studying for finals this spring.

Flip Flop Emoji:

flip.flop.emoji

Again, we see no reason for this one. Yes, there are footprints but that is not enough. I would like to send a cute pair of flip flops when asking my friends to join me for summer shopping or when reminding my fiancé to pack the ultimate summer sandal for our beach getaways. Would pair perfectly with the bikini and the beach umbrella. Sigh.

Seahorse Emoji:

pink.seahorse.emoji

So we may want this one a little more than most given Pinkly Perfect’s logo, but we also think it’d be useful for a bunch of other beach inspired brands that also honor this majestic sea creature as an important part of their branding techniques.

What beachy emojis are you missing?! Let us know in the comments section below!

Best Pool Floats for Summer

Written by: Maddy

20160304 Maddy Sasso Pinkly Perfect-32

While we may love the supersized inflatable flamingo that’s been floating (literally) around our FB feeds lately, our Jersey shore pools aren’t quite as big as the one on Bravo’s Summer House. We decided to find a collection of more realistic pool floats that are necessary for this summer. Below is what we found:

Rainbow Cloud Floating Bar, $39 from Funboy

rainbow.cloud.bar

Solving the problem of our cocktails getting too warm too quickly when out in the sun, this just over 3 feet RAINBOW CLOUD (#swoon) holds four cup holders and multiple bottles of wine, making this absolutely necessary for poolside happy hours.

Inflatable Cactoss

$25 from sunnylife

Because you can only lounge for so long before needing a fun activity, this inflatable Cac-toss is so necessary this summer! We love that you can play either in the pool or on the ground, making it perfect for the beach babes who prefer the sand over the pool deck!

Angel Wings Float

$128 from Funboy

This made for an angel float is perfect for a solo afternoon of lounging. We love how we can spread our arms like wings for ultimate relaxation to avoid Sunday scaries this summer.

Donut Inner Tube Pool Float

$20 from Urban Outfitters

Everyone loves a little spin on an old classic! The signature inner tube style meets our favorite sweet for a perfectly realistic addition to our swimming pool this summer.

We’re Dreaming of a White (Sand) Christmas | Beachy Ornaments You Need RN

beachy.christmas.ornaments

One of my favorite things about going home for the holidays is decorating our Christmas tree. Like most parents, mine saved all of our handmade creations from when we were kids, my favorite being a cutout gingerbread man made purely of brown construction paper, crayons, and a green pipe cleaner.

Our tree may not be “beautiful” in a photographed for Town & Country way, but it reminds us of the simplicity and excitement of our youth as well as our different (and very short) musical instrument and sport phases.

While my ornaments are mostly old arts & craft projects and Madeline-themed, I’ve recently started collecting more summer inspired knick-knacks to embrace my number #1 wish on every Christmas list—my own beach obsessed brand. Below are some I’m currently eyeing that I know you will love too!

Pink Seashell JOY

$40 from The Mermaids Box on Etsy

pink.seashell.ornament

This beautiful ornament from Etsy combines a quintessential Christmas sentiment with vintage and found seashells in our favorite shades of pink. We love it for our tree this year or just to hang in our office for a pink pick-me-up this holiday season!

Feathered Flamingo Ornament

$20 at Anthropologie

flamingo.pink.ornament
Photo from Anthropologie

For us to truly be a flamingo in a flock of pigeons this Christmas season, we’re loving the idea of trading in our reindeer and snowmen for a sparkly and feathered pink flamingo ornament. This one from Anthropologie will surely stand out from the crowd.

Sunny Life Pineapple Ornament

$7 at Shopbop

pineapple.ornament
Photo from Shopbop

A pineapple a day keeps the scrooge away! That’s the saying, right? The pineapple is largely used in the South to convey hospitality, warmth, and friendship, which is why we think a pineapple ornament is perfect for welcoming family and friends in for some hot chocolate and holiday cheer this winter. At only $7, we especially love this Sunny Life one.

Blowfish Ornament

$7.50 at Pottery Barn

If the puffer fish in Finding Nemo was your favorite character, you’ll love this beautiful pink glass blowfish ornament from Pottery Barn. While you’re online shopping, check out their other sea-inspired decorations, including angel fish, seashells, and lifesavers.

Pink Sweet Treats to Beat the Heat

easy.pink.dessert.recipes

Written by: Sarah Felbin

Summer may be coming to a close, but long days, heat waves, and Labor Day party invitations (is September really only days away?!) are still in full swing. Thankfully, we’ve got you covered! These sweet, pink treats are perfect for parties, beach days, or an excuse to stay inside where it’s air conditioned. Oh, and there’s something for everyone – dairy-free, no-bake, vegan, and all delicious!

First up: The party planner’s guide to a perfect pink menu. If you’re looking to impress your guests, we highly recommend these no bake pink lemonade cheesecake parfaits (shown below). They look and taste like you’ve spent hours slaving in the kitchen, but really only take 10-15 minutes to put together.

lemonade.cheesecake.parfait.pinklyperfect
Picture from homemadehooplah.com.

If you like to prep ahead of time, popsicles are perfect! They’re easy to make and take a long time to freeze, which leaves you time to pick out your perfect party outfit in between. Vegan creamy coconut and blood orange pops (shown below) are gorgeous and so simple, while peach melba pops with thyme take a little more work, but are just as stunning.

vegan.coconut.bars
Picture from forkknifeswoon.com.

Unfortunately, hot weather isn’t always the best popsicle weather. If you’re worried about the mess, opt for a refreshing drink instead – this raspberry lemon iced tea takes no time at all and is the perfect, summery shade of pink!

Nothing says summer like a smoothie, and a Jamba Juice smoothie? Even better! This Aloha Pineapple smoothie tastes just like the real deal, but only uses a few easy ingredients. You might even have them in your fridge already…

If you love to bake, but hate the high calorie count of some of your favorites, try these baked vanilla donuts! Much healthier than your usual donut, but just as yummy and fun to make! Craving cake instead? How about pink velvet? Or, if you’re more of a cookie person (we see you, though we don’t really understand you), these Lofthouse sugar cookie bars (shown below) are as beautiful as they are tasty! And, if you’ve got a few hours to burn, pink cinnamon rolls are the perfect way to treat yo’self after a long day.

pink.frosted.cookie.bars.pinkly.perfect
Picture from somethingswanky.com

And last, but not least… Unicorn hot chocolate! Because who can say no to whipped cream and sprinkles?!

Yes, that’s right: Unicorn hot chocolate. Originally created by Creme and Sugar cafe in Southern California, unicorn hot chocolate isn’t cold, but it’s just too awesome to leave out! It’s easy to make and fun to eat, and who doesn’t love whipped cream and sprinkles?

Spoon University has an easy, basic recipe here, but you can also find a dairy-free version that uses almond milk instead of regular milk here.

For extra inspiration, check out Love and Olive Oil’s version (shown at the top of this article)! And yes, that unicorn horn is edible – you can thank us later.
